JUVENILE LAW PRACTICE AREA
We recognize the promise that resides in our young people and, as parents, look out for the best interests of children and dependents. That includes providing counsel and helping to educate both students and their parents/guardians in making sometimes difficult decisions about their education and living arrangements.
Accused or Involved in a Crime
We sincerely hope that neither you, nor anyone in your family or that you know, ever needs to be represented by a criminal defense attorney. However, should you or a family member need to talk to a good, experienced criminal defense lawyer, please contact Hoppe & Martin.
Our attorneys have years of experience representing individuals faced with a wide range of criminal charges. Having an attorney behind you who knows the process can be invaluable when facing criminal charges.
At Hoppe & Martin, we work aggressively to develop and present the best possible defense for our clients. As a result of our preparedness and willingness to go to trial when we believe that the Prosecutor does not have a case, or is overreaching, we have been successful in many cases in getting charges reduced or even dropped.
Juvenile Matters
When a juvenile (person under the age of 18) has been arrested for a crime, there are additional issues at stake. Not only is there the potential penalty for the crime, but there may be long-term consequences. At Hoppe & Martin, our attorneys have handled numerous juvenile criminal matters and are very familiar with the issues involved.
Our focus is on getting the charges dismissed or withdrawn, if at all possible. However, if that is not possible, we work hard to obtain the best results, so that any long-term impact the charges and penalties will be minimized. Remember, improper handling of a juvenile criminal matter can lead to a permanent criminal record – carried throughout adulthood.
Don’t limit the freedoms and livelihood of your child or loved one – call us today on tel. (610) 444-2001 to learn how to defend and protect the rights of juveniles facing a criminal issue.
Our law firm has experience in the areas of law that a young person is likely to encounter. For example, one area where we have had great success is in First Amendment and Religious Freedom issues. Some recent examples:
- We successfully represented an individual against criminal charges which arose when he attempted to read from the Bible during a public comment time at a Borough of Lansdowne Council meeting – a council member had characterized the Bible as "hate speech"
- We have represented parents who are home-schooling their children
- We advise students of their rights on issues such as religion in public schools
If you believe that your rights have been or are being violated, please contact us. We would be honored to discuss your situation with you and, if appropriate, advocate on your behalf.
Post Conviction
If you have been convicted our Attorneys are well able to pursue all remedies available to challenge a conviction including filing post-trial motions, appeal and PCRAs.
Expungement
In some instances, you may be eligible to have your criminal record expunged so that there will not be any evidence of your conviction in public records. We would be glad to discuss your situation with you to see if you are eligible for expungement. If so, we can handle the filing of the proper petition and any arguments to the court to obtain an expungement of your arrest, and in some cases, any juvenile adjudications or other similar matters.
